Debts
Your creditor directory — every balance, APR, minimum and due day. Balances are live: logging a payment moves them for you.
Payment Plan
What you actually pay this month, and the ordered road to zero under your chosen strategy.
Strategy Lab
Snowball, avalanche and your own custom order — side by side, with the exact dollars and months between them.
What-If
A safe sandbox on top of your real plan. Try a windfall, a bigger monthly payment or a consolidation — nothing here changes your actual numbers.
Payments
Log a payment and the balance moves by itself — interest split from the APR, principal off the debt, dashboard updated. You never have to re-type a balance to keep up with a payment; editing a debt directly is for a correction, not for bookkeeping.
Milestones
The milestone wall. Every debt killed, every threshold crossed — marked, dated and celebrated.
Help & guide
Every debt, every dollar, every payoff — calmly to zero.
A private, offline debt-payoff cockpit — it lives on your own computer, with no account and no cloud. List every debt, set a monthly payment budget, pick a strategy, and the tracker shows you the exact road to zero: which debt falls first, your debt-free date, and how much interest your plan saves versus paying minimums alone. Log a payment and your balances move themselves — nothing needs a second manual edit.
The whole app is built around one arc: debt down to zero. The Dashboard leads with what’s left of what you started with, a payoff ring, a debt-free countdown, and a milestone wall that fills in as you go.
This file is Debt-Payoff-Tracker-App.html — one of five files in your download. Double-click it and it opens in your normal browser. There is nothing to install and no account to create: it is a web page that runs from your own hard drive, not an app from a store. It works fully offline once loaded.
First time in, you’ll see two choices: ✨ Explore with sample data loads a full example plan (the Rivera family, six debts, a real strategy already running) so you can see every screen populated. + Add my first debt skips the demo and starts your own plan. Switch anytime — while exploring the demo, a banner up top offers Start fresh with my own, which clears the sample data.
Five files came in the same Etsy download, and you can re-download all of them any time — updates are free.
- Debt-Payoff-Tracker-App.html — this file. The interactive tracker: live balances, the payoff ring, the debt-free countdown, Strategy Lab and What-If.
- Debt-Payoff-Tracker-Workbook.xlsx — the spreadsheet edition, with the same debts, the same strategies and the same payoff arithmetic worked as live formulas. The main difference: its payment log is a record — you update the balance on its Debts tab yourself. This file moves the balance for you; the spreadsheet does not. Two smaller ones: its debt grid has a fixed number of rows, and the Quick Start states the exact figure; and where this file adds milestones automatically as you hit them, the workbook works out what is coming and leaves you space to write your own in. Nothing in it is locked or password-protected, and every input cell is yours to edit.
- Debt-Payoff-Tracker-Printable-Pack.pdf — the printable pack, in A4 and US Letter. Paper cannot recalculate, so these are structured blanks that match the sections above — the same sections and the same method, with room to write. Where a sheet reprints one of this file’s own tables it carries its column names exactly; every other sheet has columns of its own.
- The Payoff — the free companion book: the method behind the screens, why the order you pay in matters, and what to do the month after the last debt clears.
- Debt-Payoff-Tracker-Quick-Start.pdf — the four-page guide that covers all five files, including the link to the online copy of the workbook.
Dashboard — remaining balance against your starting total, a payoff ring, a debt-free countdown, and a burn bar of every debt shrinking to zero. Below: your on-time streak, what falls next, this month’s payment, and interest saved vs. minimums-only.
Debts — your creditor directory. + Add debt to enter name, type, APR, balance, minimum payment, credit limit and due day. Balances are live — logging a payment moves them for you; edit a debt directly only for a correction.
Payment Plan — set your monthly payment budget and strategy (Snowball, Avalanche or Custom). Once budget is set, see exactly what to pay each debt this month, plus the full schedule to zero — click show schedule on any debt to open one debt, month by month — the sheet the workbook and the printable pack call by that name too.
Strategy Lab — Snowball, Avalanche and Custom side by side on your real numbers, with the exact debt-free date, time and interest difference between them. Click Use snowball / avalanche / custom to switch.
What-If — a sandbox that never touches your real plan: try a one-off windfall, a bigger monthly payment, or a consolidation loan, and see what it would actually change.
Payments — + Log payment and the tracker splits it into interest and principal automatically, moves the balance, and updates your streak. A debt can only absorb this month’s interest plus its whole balance; enter more than that and the tracker records only what it absorbed, tells you the three figures, and leaves the remainder for you to log against another debt. Edit or delete any entry — deleting a payment you logged here puts its principal back on the balance; the interest part of it does not, because it never came off the balance.
How the interest is worked out, and what that means. A projection: interest here is a plain monthly rate — the APR divided by twelve — so daily interest, promotional rates and fees are not modelled. Your lender’s own statement is the number that counts. The free book’s Chapter 8 explains the daily rate your card actually runs on, and says plainly what this tracker does instead of it.
Milestones — the milestone wall. Debts paid off, dollar and percentage thresholds, and on-time streaks are added automatically as you hit them. + Add milestone to log your own win.
Do I need to install an app or create an account? No — it opens in your normal browser, straight from the file on your own drive. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to download a second time.
Is my data private? Yes — everything you type into this file stays in your browser on your device, no cloud, no account, nothing ever sent anywhere. Does it work offline? Yes, fully, once the page has loaded once. How do I back up or move devices? Settings ⚙ → ⬇ Export backup saves a small file; on the new device, Settings → ⬆ Import restores it. Will logging a payment update my balance? Yes, automatically — interest split from the APR, the rest off principal.
How many debts can I add here? This file sets no limit of its own on debts, payments or milestones — it holds as many as your browser’s storage allows, and it tells you if that runs out. The workbook edition is different: a spreadsheet has a fixed grid, so its debt rows are counted, and the Quick Start states the number. What currencies? $ £ € ₹ A$ C$, set in Settings. The currency setting applies to this file only — the workbook and the printable pack are laid out in US dollars ($) whatever you choose here. Are updates free? Yes — re-download all five files anytime from your Etsy purchases page.
Data not saving? This file saves to your browser’s local storage, which private/incognito windows wipe on close — open it in a normal window. If storage is full or the browser is set to block site data, the tracker says so on screen rather than losing the entry quietly; export a backup from Settings and clear some space. Moving to a new computer? Export a backup on the old machine, copy Debt-Payoff-Tracker-App.html and the backup file to the new one, open it, and Import. Starting over? Settings → Reset erases everything — export a backup first if unsure, it can’t be undone. Want a paper copy? Settings → 🖨 Print hides the navigation automatically so only your data prints.
